"Armenia has destroyed 9 cities and hundreds of villages in Azerbaijan. Historical, cultural and religious monuments in these areas have been demolished and looted. For decades, Armenia has prevented the visit of a UNESCO mission to the occupied territories in order to hide the purposeful destruction it has committed. This fact is clearly reflected in the activity report published by UNESCO in 2005", Leyla Abdullayeva noted.
Abdullayeva stated that Armenia has also completely destroyed the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan grossly violating international law, including humanitarian law, over the past 30 years; the Geneva Conventions dated 1949 and the UNESCO Conventions dated1954 and 1970.
